How Do You Get Rid Of Ground Squirrels

If you've watched videos of people playing with squirrels on our site or YouTube, you understandably might now be thinking, "Hey, that looks like fun! Where can I buy a squirrel?" This article will explain how you can get all the cuddly squirrels you want for free.

First, before you jump in to getting your own squirrel, it's important to learn some basic facts.

Baby squirrels are remarkably willing to be raised by humans. It's amazing. For the first six months of their life, if you give them good care and love, they will happily accept you as their mama. They are enthusiastic fun loving little creatures, and you can experience many hours of joy with young squirrels.

As the babies come to maturity, the situation changes. Adult squirrels are like adult humans. They want to go off in to the world, live the life a million years of evolution have designed them to live, revel in their freedom, and engage in, um, baby making activities.

If an adult squirrel is denied the life they were designed to live, they become less cuddly, anxious, and maybe even a bit ornery. All the energy they would normally use in a natural life outdoors now gets applied to chewing on your furniture, electric cords, and maybe your fingers. Adult squirrels can not be house trained either.

If you take this approach, you'll find the vast majority of wildlife rehabbers will welcome you with open arms, and help you have the experience you want to have.

You don't have to dive in to raising baby squirrels until you're ready. As example, you might volunteer to baby sit baby squirrels for a few days when the rehabbers go out of town. You might volunteer to assist the rehabbers with their squirrels.

Once you're ready to have your own baby squirrels, you will have to spend some money on supplies. It's not real expensive, but especially the first time, you need to stock up on formula, syringes, nipples, cages and so on.

So, you've learned that baby squirrels make great pets, and adult squirrels do not. You've also learned that, if you do it right, you'll never have to buy a baby squirrel.

Liberty County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 75,653.[1] The county seat is Liberty.[2] The county was created in 1831 as a municipality in Mexico and organized as a county in 1837.[3][4] It is named for the popular American ideal of liberty.[5]

Liberty County is included in the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,176 square miles (3,050 km2), of which 1,158 square miles (3,000 km2) is land and 18 square miles (47 km2) (1.5%) is water.[6]

The Trinity River flows through this county, dividing the county approximately in half. The river begins on the northern border of Liberty County, forming the San Jacinto - Polk County line through the Liberty County line. The east fork of the San Jacinto River flows through far Northeast parts of the county, Flowing through Cleveland. Tarkington Bayou begins in the Sam Houston National Forest in San Jacinto County, working its way south through Northeast and east Liberty County and joining other feeders, before traveling into Harris County and emptying into Galveston Bay. The highest point in Liberty County is "Davis Hill", the roof of a salt dome in the northern part of the county.

Around 1995 the economy of Liberty County was mainly focused on agriculture and oil. As of that year the economy of Liberty County was struggling. At that time the Texas Department of Criminal Justice had established four correctional facilities (ClevelandHenleyHightower, and Plane) in the county within a six-year span. As of 1995 the facilities employed 1,045 employees and contributed $22 million in the county's annual payroll. Since Cleveland is a privately operated facility, the county receives tax revenue from the prison's operation.

Harris County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 4,092,459,[2] making it the most populous county in Texas and the third-most populous county in the United States. Its county seat is Houston, the largest city in Texas and fourth-largest city in the United States. The county was founded in 1836 and organized in 1837.[3][4] It is named for John Richardson Harris, an early settler of the area. By the July 2016 Census Bureau estimate Harris County's population had grown to 4,589,928

John Richardson Harris, early Harris County settler and founder of Harrisburg, the son of John and Mary (Richardson) Harris, was born in Cayuga, New York, on October 22, 1790.

On May 7, 1813, he married Jane Birdsall. John and Jane Birdsall Harris settled near Waterloo, New York, where two sons, DeWitt Clinton and Lewis Birdsall Harris, were born. In 1819, they were living in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, where their daughter Mary Jane Harris Briscoe was born. A third son, John Birdsall Harris, was born in 1821.

At Ste. Genevieve, Harris met Moses Austin and decided to move to Texas. He came to Texas in his own vessel in 1824, and received title to 4,428 acres of land at the junction of Bray's and Buffalo Bayous in what is now Harris County. He boarded with William Scott while he built a house on the peninsula between the bayous and a store and warehouse on Buffalo Bayou.

In 1826, he employed Francis W. Johnson to lay out the town of Harrisburg. With his brother David Harris, John Harris established a second trading post at Bell's Landing on the Brazos River. Their sloops and schooners plied between Texas and New Orleans. One of these vessels, the Rights of Man, carried 84 bales of cotton to New Orleans in 1828.

Harris was building a steam sawmill-gristmill at Harrisburg in 1829, when he went to New Orleans to buy equipment and there contracted yellow fever. After his death on August 21, 1829, his sawmill and shipping enterprises were operated by his brothers David, Samuel, and William Plunkett Harris. His widow and son DeWitt moved to Texas in 1833; the other children came later.
